The seventh shot - Welcome to Fairtrade Blend FT1
Another year is upon us and Baristador Coffee now has a 100 percent certified Fairtrade Espresso Blend called FT1.
It has been an unusual journey, to say the least. Firstly, because I was not looking to create a Fairtrade blend, and secondly because I fell in love with this blend instantly, and I mean ‘head over heels’. My partner-in-crime, my mystery roasting expert, shares an equally world-weary palate and yet we were both struck by this little concoction. I even snapped a shot of sample number seven so I could remember this moment forever.
My hesitation about going down the certified Fair Trade track was due to a string of failed attempts to find a Fair Trade coffee that was pleasing to my fussy old palate. Some of the earliest trials in the late 1980s and again in the 1990s were quite simply atrocious. It made me think that despite everyone’s best intentions, this will not be sustainable.
And that is why I have persevered to bring this Fairtrade blend to your attention because if you have endured similarly bad experiences, I want to urge you to try again. Obviously, I have a vested interest in this because it is my blend and I own Baristador Coffee. So, to help encourage you a little more, I want to suggest two options:
